Telemarketers

I hate telemarketers. On wednesday, my dad bought a nokia 1100 phone and got me to talk to the optus people so that the simcard can get activated (i don't think they are called telemarketers but close enough). They ask you questions so fast that you cannot understand them. The guy that was talking to me had an indian accent and i had to ask him to repeat the sentence something 3 times every 2 sentences. Telemarketers are also annoying as well. They ring your house looking for your parents. My mum always picks up the phone and tells them that she doesn't understand, so she gives the phone to me. You can never hang up politely because they talk non stop at a million miles an hour. One guy was trying to get us to change out home phone plan or something and i said that we wanted to keep the same plan thank you. He then kept on going "this is way better than your old phone. Why don't you change?". Grrrrr...it was so annoying because you will know that it is not always free and there is a catch behind it so you deny it but they jsut keep coming at you. After watching today tonight, i've learnt that you should never hangup all of a sudden on telemarketers or else they will start bombarding your house with calls. Anyway, I hope australia does something about these people before it gets out of hand.
See ya later!

I saw on the news something along the lines that new legislation will come in that allows you to say if you don't want your phone number to be available to telemarketers to use. That would be pretty wicked, cos basically nobody wants it.

ahh hbut B1, you can hang up very impolitely... I've done this many times before. It usually goes something like this :
TM : Would you like to hear about our great deals on Nokia's latest mobile phones?
J : ( enthusiastically ) Sure!
